Yesterday I downloaded the latest live CD offering from
Mandriva... It's the 2007 Gnome release with integrated Metisse window interface.
You've seen the latest "3D desktop" for Linux - that is, the Compiz/Beryl spinning cube and wobbly windows. They are very nice, but they only really offer a few "useful" tools that help the interface between human and window desktop. Not the same with Metisse, in my opinion.

07 January 07 - 17:21A Web-treasure of early PC games
Today I came across this website:
Abandonia, which has a large database of "abondon-ware" available for downloading.
I was thrilled to have found this site, as there are some games that I really enjoyed playing on my first IBM clone PC. One of the games I had the most fun with was called "Lands of Lore". This was the first RPG game I can remember playing, and it was a good one.

06 January 07 - 17:26What's Christmas without Star Wars?
Here we are, at the end of week one of the year 2007. It sure didn't take long for the Christmas holidays to come and go.
As usual, we had a pretty darned good break. It's difficult sometimes to be such a long way from the rest of the relatives during times like these, but we (my wife and I) certainly do enjoy our quiet time together.
This year I received some pretty awesome gifts for Christmas, including some great additions to my Star Wars collection.
